Turret House in Early Autumn

Summer Leaves

Summer leaves and autumn trees,
Fade to a gold and scarlet mantle.
An ephemeral shroud, pulled down,
To reveal the nakedness of winter.

  1. There’s a story I’ve heard about life in the north of Sweden, where the winters are extra cold and dark. It can be lonely and isolated up there, but the residents manage to muddle through. When asked what he did for fun, a Northerner responded, “We hunt and we breed, but the during the winter time, we cannot hunt.” Those are some long winters up there too.
